Alumni Association

The Muskie School Alumni Association plays an important role in the life of the Muskie School by providing career support and mentoring for students as well as sponsoring events for the Muskie community. Past events have included public policy panel discussions, prospective student receptions, and student career seminars featuring alumni. Each year, the Alumni Association also raises money for a scholarship that is awarded to continuing Muskie students.

  • April 23, 2008: Public Lecture
    Noon, Moot Court Room, Law School, 1st floor. Muskie Visiting Professor Joel Goldstein will present "A Presidential Vice-Presidency: Lessons from the Muskie 1968 Campaign."
  • May 10, 2008: Graduation
  • October 16-17, 2008: Official opening of the Wishcamper Center

Association Meetings

The Alumni Association meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. on the 5th Floor of the Law building on the Portland Campus. All Muskie alumni are invited to attend.

Adrianne Harrison (CPD '05) recently relocated from San Francisco to Portsmouth, NH to work for the NOAA Coastal Services Center Northeast Regional Office in Durham, NH. The NOAA Coastal Services Center brings information, services, and technology to the nation's coastal resource managers.

Brian Clark (PPM '07) was recently hired as the Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives at the Irving B. Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago.

Kelly Clark (PPM '97) has been appointed new State Director of AARP New Hampshire.

Emily Roy (HPM ' 06) recently started a position of Compliance Specialist focusing on Medicare and HIPPA with the Commonwealth Care Alliance in Boston.

John Herald (PPM '93) co-authored a paper "The Financial Desirability of Long-Term Care Insurance Versus Self-Insurance" with professors Joel Gold, Ph.D and David Vanderlinden, Ph.D, The paper was published in the Journal of Financial Planning, November 2006, and awarded the Financial Frontiers Award in 2006.

Kevin Donoghue (CPD '06) has been elected to Portland's city council representing the east side's District 1.

Katherine Freund (PPM '92) has been chosen by The Gerontological Society of America to receive its 2006 Maxwell A. Pollack Award for Productive Aging for her work with ITN America. This honor, given annually, recognizes instances of practice informed by research and analysis, research that directly improved policy or practice, and distinction in bridging the worlds of research and practice.

Susan Beane (PPM '06) was recently hired as Capital Campaign Administrator at Mount Washington Observatory in North Conway, NH.

Jeremy Gabrielson (CPD '04) just accepted a new position as a planner with the Washington County Council of Government in.

Alan Baldwin (PPM '95) was recently promoted to Senior Consultant in Reden & Anders Medical Economics Practice in Cary, NC.

Denise Riebman (PPM '99) accepted a position as Project Manager, War on Poverty Inititiatve, at the Institute on Assets and Social Policy, Heller School, Brandeis University.

Archana Mahimkar (HPM '03) has accepted the position of Health Services Researcher for Martin's Point Health Care in Portland, ME.
