Muskie School Scholarships

Scholarship information and applications for entering and continuing students are sent to every accepted and continuing student in early February and need to be returned by March 1st. Students are notified by mail of scholarship awards by mid-March.

New Student Scholarships

Muskie School of Public Service Board of Visitors Donald E. Nicoll Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to increase the quality and diversity of the school's entering class. Applications are sent to all students applying for admission. Each year one full-time student will be selected. Awards average $5,000 for a one-year scholarship.

Trustee Tuition Scholarship Program

This program, open to all USM students, is designed to attract academically gifted students. Each year the respective Muskie admissions committees (CPD, HPM, PPM, Ph.D.) recommend a candidate to the University Scholarship committee. Recipients are awarded either partial or full tuition scholarships.

Muskie Foundation Scholarships

The Muskie Foundation Scholarships were established by the Edmund S. Muskie Foundation to honor Senator Muskie and to increase the quality and diversity of the School's entering class. These one to two-year scholarships are awarded to outstanding matriculated students entering the Masters and Ph.D. programs who will attend school on a full-time basis. The scholarships are applied toward tuition and fees. In addition, each Muskie Foundation Scholar may receive an assistantship or internship in one of the Muskie School research institutes. Four to eight scholarships are awarded.

Continuing Student Scholarships

Peter Feeny Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship is made available to a limited number of continuing students who show financial need, have completed 18 credit hours of course work, and exhibit a demonstrated commitment to public service. The alumni association reviews each application and makes the awards averaging $1,000.
