This year, we finished rebuilding our training to incorporate ASFA; the training now blends ASFA process, requirements, implications and practice.

All aspects of ASFA, including definitions, permanency hearing issues, timeframes, case planning, and case reviews.

e. In the past year, since our earlier survey, have you done any of the following ASFA training with or for the courts?

We hold an annual Dependency Court Improvement Summit. This year we had over 1500 participants and 33 workshops. The workshops covered topics such as: case planning, MEPA, visitation, family team meetings and conferencing, residential treatment, permanency, the Quality Delivery System, education needs and independent living. We had a special panel for foster parents and our plenary session addressed ASFA. One of the sessions is a breakout where local judges, court and agency staff get together to do some action planning for the year around issues to mutual concern.

a. Why did you give your system that rating?

We have only provided the first phase of functionality in HomeSafeNet. This includes child and case demographic data, chronological notes and all AFCARS required data fields. The performance outcome information we will be able to obtain will be helpful, especially to managers. Future releases of HSn will provide much more functionality to workers and supervisors that relate support for the specific requirements in ASFA and Florida law.
