Kathleen Fairfield

Kathleen Fairfield, MD, DrPH, Co-Investigator, is a general internist and epidemiologist. She completed her internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston in 1996, and a Doctorate in Public Health at Harvard in 2000.  Her research while in Boston utilized the resources of the Nurses’ Health Study cohort to study ovarian cancer etiology.  Since moving to Maine in 2002, she has been a primary care physician at the Adult Medicine Clinic at Maine Medical Center, and a Research Scientist at the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation.  She serves as methodologist for research design and statistical analysis for as an internal consultant for residents and fellows throughout Maine Medical Center. She participates in resident training by instructing in clinical appraisal of the medical literature, research design, and biostatistics.  Her research in recent years has focused on barriers to cancer screening among immigrant women.

Project Role

Dr. Fairfield will participate in research design, recruiting practices for participation in the demonstration project, and quantitative analyses.
