Lisa M. Letourneau
Lisa M. Letourneau, MD, MPH, Co-Principal Investigator, is a board-certified internist and practiced emergency medicine for 7 years before moving towards work in clinical improvement and quality improvement initiatives. After developing a strong interest in population-based health while working as a health plan medical director, she pursued further study in public health, receiving her Masters in Public Health from the Harvard University. Since 2000, she has served as the Director of Clinical Integration for MaineHealth where she is responsible for providing leadership and support for a range of healthcare improvement initiatives. Dr. Letourneau has a wide range of clinical and administrative experience, and has a particular interest in helping to build connections between public health and clinical care. She has been involved in planning and implementation of several chronic illness programs at MaineHealth, working with physicians and hospitals to implement improvement programs for diabetes, asthma, and heart failure. She also has a strong interest in issues of adult obesity and youth overweight, and for the past year has worked with the Maine Center for Public Health to help lead the Maine Youth Overweight Collaborative, an initiative working with 12 primary care practices around the state to improve efforts to prevent and treat youth overweight.
Project Role
Dr. Letourneau will act as chief liaison with physician practices that she has been already been involved with on a variety of quality improvement efforts. In addition, she will serve as primary contact with Quality Counts!, and other members of the advisory group.
