THE CONFERENCE

"Stormwater Management in Cold Climates: Planning, Design, and Implementation" was the first international North American Conference dedicated specifically to addressing  the challenges of urban stormwater management in cold climates.
Our vision was to provide a forum for dialogue, information exchange and problem-solving across multiple disciplines and cold climate regions.  Two days of outstanding sessions featured forward-thinking experts addressing a broad range of important stormwater topics.  We welcomed 55 presenters and 375 participants from Norway, Sweden, Iceland, New Zealand, Canada, and twenty-two U.S. states.  Representative included engineers, scientists, U.S. state and federal government employees, municipal staff, developers, designers, landscape architects, contractors, students, and others.  Twenty-two stormwater product manufacturers, service providers, and organizations exhibited at the conference.
Whether you attended the sold-out conference or not, we hope the proceedings which include the contributions of more than twenty speakers will be of value to you.  Many hands will be needed to accomplish the task of managing stormwater in the 21st century.  In this era of rapid urban development, competition or government dollars, and increased awareness of the ties bewteen environmental and social issues, producting our water resources is becoming an inncreasingly complex challenge.  Through our combined efforts, that challenge can be met.
