Offers trainings open to all DHHS employees.  Please follow their directions to register for their events.

Institute for Public Sector Innovation, Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service, University of Southern Maine (IPSI)
The Institute for Public Sector Innovation, one of three research  institutes at the Muskie School, collaborates with many state and federal agencies to provide education and training, strategic planning, organizational development, computer based technology, information systems, cross systems collaboration, and performance management.

Amethyst Training & Consulting
Amethyst provides a number of trainings towards the MHRT I and MHRT/Community certification.

Cape Cod Institute
Sponsored by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, the Cape Cod Institute is a summer program offering week long postgraduate courses for mental health, health science and behavioral science professions.

Colby College
Colby is the only private liberal arts college in the nation accredited to offer Category 1 credit for the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association.  Several programs of interest to behavioral health professionals are offered each year.

Community Program Innovations (CPI)
Located in Massachusetts, CPI offers day-long social service trainings which attract people from all over New England.  In addition, CPI will send trainers around the country to train on site.

Community Support Specialist Program (CSSP)
A program of Medical Care Development in Maine that has provided support and education to well over 100 people in recovery from mental illness and substance abuse.  Those who complete the program earn a provisional MHRT/Community certificate and gain the skills necessary to compete in the community mental health field.

The Co-Occurring Collaborative of Southern Maine (CCSME--formerly the Cumberland County Dual Diagnosis Collaborative)
This links you to the Collaborative, which is an organization with representatives of over 40 social service agencies. The Collaborative provides or facilitates such services as training consultation and education, curriculum development, development of dual diagnosis clinical guidelines, consumer and collaborative partnership development, collaborative grant writing, Dual Recovery Anonymous groups, and respite options.

Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC)

Maine Children's Alliance
The Maine Children's Alliance mission is to be "a strong and powerful voice to improve the lives of Maine's children, youth and families."  Their web site ahs a wealth of information on Maine children and families.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI)
National Alliance for the Mentally Ill--Maine Chapter
NAMI is dedicated to the eradication of mental illnesses and to the improvement of the quality of life of those whose lives are affected by these diseases. NAMI accomplishes its mission through, among other activities, serving as an information collection and dissemination center and fostering public education. NAMI Maine is a statewide organization providing information, referral, education and support to adults and children with mental illness and their families, and is the official Maine affiliate of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
National Association of Social Workers-Maine Chapter

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with more than 155,000 members. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.

New England Institute of Addiction Studies (NEIAS)
Based in Augusta, Maine, NEIAS is dedicated to the education of professionals, volunteers, and the general public concerning alcohol and drug prevention and treatment issues.  The link also provides access to the AdCare Educational Institute's website.  AdCare is dedicated to providing education and knowledge in the prevention and treatment of substance abuse.

New England Regional Continuing Education Program for Community Rehabilitation Program Personnel (RCEP/CRP)
The RCEP/CRP consists of a consortium of the Rehabilitation Training Program of the University of Hartford, the Institute on Disability of the University of New Hampshire, and the Department of Vocational Services of the Maine Medical Center, and is funded by the Rehabilitation Services Administration. The RCEP/CRP provides integrated sequences of training which focus on the needs of community rehabilitation program direct service staff, administrators and managers. It also provides training for employers, school-to-work personnel, employee co-workers (natural supports), and families. Training is held in barrier-free sites throughout New England.

NAPPI (Non-Abusive Psychological & Physical Intervention), Inc.
NAPPI is a course in staff safety, and therefore teaches staff the entire spectrum of how to stay safer, from emergency physical skills, to tactical assessment and prevention skills, to strategic partnership and relationship building skills, to cultural changing skills – all designed to develop a coherent, professional response to dangerous situations.  Based in Lewiston/Auburn, Maine, NAPPI, Inc.'s course is one of the
DHHS-approved trainings acceptable for the Behavioral Intervention Program requirement for MHRT I certification.

University of Southern Maine, Center for Continuing Education
USM's CCE
offers a wide range of non-credit continuing education programs for professionals in health and human services fields. Programs are generally one or two days, but some are more in-depth certificate programs. Courses are held on the USM Portland campus.

University of New England, Office of Continuing Education (UNE)
At this site you can review the Continuing Education Offerings, Continuing Medical/Health Professions Education Offerings, Non-credit Courses and Workshops, the Project Management Certificate Program courses and other certificate programs. You can also access other departments of UNE, such as the various academic programs and the library.

US Higher Education Accreditation Boards
This is a list of the regional accreditation boards referenced by the Center for Learning when reviewing certification applications with out-of-state degrees.  There is also a list of regionally accredited colleges/universities by state on the website.
