National Child Welfare Resource Center for Organizational Improvement (NRCOI)

In collaboration with our colleagues at the National Resource Center for Child Welfare Data and Technology (NRC-CWDT), the NRCOI has developed a process for helping child welfare jurisdictions improve their supervision systems. Our process is adapted to meet the specific needs of each jurisdiction and aims to empower child welfare agency supervisors and strengthen consistency in child welfare practice.

NRCOI is also pleased to host a Child Welfare Peer Training Network. This Network provides an opportunity for child welfare training staff to connect, share ideas and resources, and engage in timely discussions on various child welfare training topics.

Additionaly, the NRCOI has developed a number of materials related to supervision and training. Please visit the publications section of our website to view them!

The Preparation for Adulthood - Supervising for Success is a three year curriculum and training project developed by the NRCPFC. The goal of this project is to develop and disseminate a curriculum for supervisors that will help to strengthen their staff's interventions with older youth in foster care.

The NRCPFC also provides T/TA to assist in promoting supervisory practices that include supervisory coaching and mentoring.

Two of the NCIC's projects focus on child welfare supervision. They are currently working with the New York Office of Children and Family Services on building a system of sustainable supports for child welfare supervisors. They are also working with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families to enhance supervisory capacity in order to support and sustain the new DCF integrated casework practice model.

Also available from the NCIC is a literature review on Supervisory Models and Use of Data in Supervision!
