Introduction to the Curriculum for the Training Participants

(10 minutes)

Step 1: Welcome and Introductions

The lead trainer should conduct the following activities by way of welcome and introductions:

Welcome trainees.
Introduce the trainers.
Ask participants to introduce themselves with the following information:
- Name
- Agency (if the participants are coming from more than one agency/site)
- Position
- Why you are here or what you hope to get out of the training

Step 2: Initial description of the training

Prepare the participants for what will occur in this one-day training:

Refer participants to Introduction Handout 1: Schedule-At-A-Glance and describe the one-day training.
Discuss the competencies and learning objectives for the training listed on Introduction Handout 2: Training Competencies and Learning Objectives.

Explain the following:

Many of you may have had training or experience in the areas we are covering today. But it's important that we "level the playing field" to have an understanding of community collaboration and how to improve it. Throughout today, please enhance our discussion with insights and examples from your own experiences.
