Children, Youth and Families
Working closely with state, local and tribal human service agencies and community stakeholders, the Institute investigates, develops and implements sustainable policies and systemic reforms that improve outcomes for children, youth and families.
Featured Project
National Child Welfare Workforce Institute
In 2008, the Muskie School and eight other organizations across the U.S. were awarded a five-year federal grant to develop the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute. The Institute focuses on leadership as a way to strengthen the recruitment, selection, and retention of high quality staff, including professionally prepared social workers who assist abused and neglected children. For its part, the Muskie School will take the lead in developing national training programs, delivered online, for child welfare supervisors.
