Measuring Adult Offender Recidivism in Maine: A National Model

The National Institute of Corrections has selected Maine as a pilot site for measuring the effectiveness of correctional management of offenders in the community. The Muskie School is partnering with the Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC) to track a random sample of offenders on probation and measure their recidivism rates over the next two years. This will eventually help MDOC to compare program quality with individual outcomes, to track offender trends, and to create a more robust data report system on offenders.
