Informed Approval --------

The concept of "Informed Approval" is applicable to authorizing disclosure of confidential information.

Informed approval is freely given and based on an explanation and understanding of what is to be disclosed, to whom, for what purpose, the potential risks and benefits of disclosure or non-disclosure, alternatives to disclosure, and the right to refuse or revoke consent.
