  Continuous Quality Improvement Project

To conduct the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Project the NRCOI reached out to all State Child Welfare CQI leads, asking them to participate in a telephone interview designed to collect definitive information on their CQI systems. Using an informal discussion guide to conduct the semi-structured interviews, NRCOI reached a total of 26 states. The interviews focused on the following topics:

CQI staff and budget

bulletCQI structure

bulletCQI plan and activities, including:

- policies
- elements
- types of data and how it is used
- internal/external stakeholder involvement
- future plans for CQI

As a result of this project, this website contains current State CQI descriptions, materials, and other resources from CQI leaders around the country. We're hopeful that this website will serve as a resource for State CQI leaders (and other interested child welfare staff, administrators and policy makers) to generate ideas and provide information on how States approach quality improvement.
