  CFSR T/TA Services:

The NRCOI’s training and technical assistance (T/TA) services helped State child welfare agencies prepare for and engage in the Child and Family Services Review process. We provided support to States from the beginning of the statewide assessment through the development of the Program Improvement Plan (PIP). Throughout this process, we worked to enhance the agency leadership’s understanding of and ability to use the CFSR proactively and strategically to effect systemic changes and achieve improved program outcomes.

Our approach included:

bullet Designation of a lead staff person or senior consultant to partner with each State and the leads from the Regional Office and Children’s Bureau’s CFSR Unit
bullet Participation in CFSR planning calls
bullet Preparation and implementation of  key community and/or stakeholder meetings (i.e., CFSR Kick-Off, PIP Kick-Off)
bullet Attendance at the debrief and exit meetings following the onsite review week
bullet Guidance in developing a strategic approach to prioritize and sequence the training and technical assistance needs and program initiatives identified during the review process
bullet Development of relevant resources and facilitated access to peer support
